Sounds like you have the chinstrap beard formation.

Get you a good beard trimmer and keep it neat.
It'll add some masculinity to your look and help get rid of the babyface.

I have a baby face when clean shaven and growing the heavy stubble / light beard was the best move I ever made.
You just keep the cheeks and neck clean while trimming the beard itself maybe twice a week.

The beard does me a disservice. That and after two days, the fukking ITCHINGThe itching keeps me from growing beards. Can't fukk with em.

Just power through it if you can, breh. You'll itch initially until your skin adjusts.
Keep it conditioned in the early stages to prevent itching and after 10-14 days, it should be filled in good enough that you can trim it.
Last year, I put the razor down & went with my current look because I'm too lazy to shave daily and my skin was getting sensitive.
Razor burn isn't the wave. Plus, there are two types of people who shouldn't have facial hair.
Women, and children. I'm neither.

The heavy stubble looks clean when groomed properly and is pretty acceptable in most venue's today.
Takes you from the office to the bar.
A little extra incentive for you too if you're trying to catch more attention from the opposite sex
