I will admit myself, and many others were skeptical the past few years. We looked fondly towards FX and Netflix and AMC and thought HBO was a washed king.

Some like @obarth never wavered.

HBO started the year giving us True Detective's comeback season.

They gave us one of the best shows/miniseries of the year with Chernobyl.

The second season of Barry was phenomenal.

Euphoria was well done and kept us fed during the summer.

Those that watch it call Succession the best show on TV

And Game of Thrones, while it wore #45 this year it still had it's moments and dropped 55 on the knicks and a buzzer beater on the Hawks.

And Watchmen is the most exhilarating show I've seen in years.

Netflix has had a lot of shows I've enjoyed this year (mostly foreign), but 4 of my top 5 of the year right now TV wise are HBO. :wow:

Plus there's some shows i'm looking forward to in January

True Detective was meh and GoT sucked. You didn't even mention their best show this year Succession.
They are better than Netflix % wise but they have had great content this year to, When They See Us, Dave Chapelle special, Top Boy, Patriot Act. And they have more stuff I'm like, "I should watch that." Compared to HBO.
HBO had a good comeback year but the crown? Na.

I forgot succession. Widely regarded as the best drama on TV. I haven't gotten into it yet.

You also didn't mention what I think was the best shyt on netfilx this year - Russian Doll, Dark, Money Heist, Elite, Mindhunter, Marianne, Green Frontier, 3%, S.T.

HBO never lost the crown IMO. Nobody has been as consistent, people gonna complain about the thrones last season but it's still one of the GOAT shows and this is the network that gave us The Wire and Sopranos and everything you mentioned in the OP plus Curb on the comedy side I could go on..

A few bumps in the road this year with GoT S8, Big Little Lies, and Ballers but The Righteous Gemstones was a treat. Feel like I can always trust Danny McBride to deliver here. And I, too, am slacking on Succession but I've heard nothing but praise about it.

HBO 2020 is shaping up to be a treat. If Westworld III can return to form like True Detective did then we really got something to look out for. That along with The Outsider, Lovecraft Country, Barry, Insecure, and Righteous Gemstones. :wow:

Fam, HBO doesn't fukk around:yeshrug:Even when #DemThrones was at its peak, they stayed with other piff in many different genres. Netflix is great at consistently providing content, and Amazon Prime has a lot of hidden gems, but by the end of the year HBO most likely dropped the best, most compelling content.

I don't have kids, and I enjoy talking to women, so I don't know how much Disney+ is going to appeal to me:hubie:But bread might have to be spent on HBO Max:mjlit:
