I don't think the show was pointless at all. It shows how fukked up the system is. He might as well be guilty with ways things are now in his home and his community.
I thought the show was fantastic for just 8 episodes.
if i told you after episode 1 that he'd be acquitted, you'd basically know how the community would react to him. that's common sense. therefore, i stand by the opinion this show was ultimately pointless. poorly paced, stupid in many places, inaccurate in many places, and utterly pointless.
We spent literally 45 minutes of screen time on Stone's feet across 8 episodes for the wrap up to be "Hey, i know what it's like to be looked at funny." and to show it probably flares up from his stressful profession. rinse/repeat, his life sucks, on to the next one... that was the wrap up for all of that time we spent look at his feet.
they introduced some dude in like episode 5 or 6 and showed him all of 4 times and there's your killer. We knew the whole time it "wasn't about that," but that was still chintsy. To be fair though, i stopped giving a shyt who killed her and was hoping it was Naz just so it was something. None of the red herrings they presented on the show ever felt remotely possible. And it took a convenient wrap up by all of a sudden Super Cop Box to nail this guy in the last episode.
As I said, this show was like the least entertaining episode of Oz mixed with a midseason boring ass generic Law and Order episode. pointless.
Why did Michael K Williams take this role? "You'll sit in a cell the whole time and just talk in some monotone voice , saying generic shyt about how prison changes a man, then you can throw a few girly punches at a heavy bag and cut a dude's throat. You're a shoe-in for an Emmy!!!"
