On the importance of a high end HDMI cable.

:ehh: That answers it. Appreciate it. Rep coming for the fast response.

The only reason why I asked is because I want to maximize potential of my electronics. It was an area I felt was one of those "naive electronics buyers" are schemed on.

Happy I asked before I copped a $49 Monster HDMI cable.

There is none

It does matter, but you shouldnt be paying crazy prices for them either. Read that link.
:stopitslime::leostare: Now hold the fukk up... Contradictions abound.

Let's hold off on that rep. :usure:

DIstance and AWG rating, high speed or standard are things you want to look into. Buy from Monoprice, they have high quality cables for much cheaper prices than the retail stores who absolutely rape you. Read the link homie.

Get you a cheap HDMI cable from big lot and you will be fine. You don't have no worry about the thickness of the cable or what kind of tips it has unless you are planning to install a long run cable from a central location to a projector. Any HDMI CABLE for less than 10 dollar will be feasible for a short run..

I'll never forget doing a HDMI test between the "low end" store brand (Rocketfish at Best Buy), and "high end" Monster.

I bought them on staff discount, these were the HDMI Ultra THX or whatever the shyt Monster would call them. Retail was about $799.99 and staff was roughly 200ish. I grabbed those for the test.

Then I copped the Rocketfish ones ($89.99 retail, still a ripoff) but $6.00 on staff discount.

Went home and constantly switched back and forth on the cables. Did this with both the PS3 and 360. Over and over again. This was on my 52" Sony XBR4 at the time too, fully calibrated.

Could not tell a single difference for the life of me. No input lag or anything of the sort either. Just a joke.

Since then it's been Dynex/Rocketfish and never looked back :heh:

With that said the Monster component cables that they use to make were the truth. There was a high level of difference compared to anything low end, especially the console versions that they made specifically for systems. The HDMI ones however :camby:

It's a digital signal, you can't really improve a signal that's already digital, so avoid purchasing a cable from a retail store at all costs. Cop from monoprice or amazon

I remember when I used to work retail. The store I worked in sold a 12 ft. HDMI cable for $19.99 :childplease:

Every time a customer grabbed them shyts I referred them to either monoprice or amazon.
