Assuming he’s paying all the utilities as well, this seems pretty fair. $850mo rent on a $35K salary is manageable :patrice:

Regardless of what either is making its only right to go half on the apartment.

It shouldn't be a matter of right or wrong, only way I'd pay more than her is if she was in school or something trying to further her career and even that isn't likely depending on how long we were together

The way it's worded sounds like she moved in, then sprung it on her asking to pay half... If that's the case he dead ass wrong. If they discussed having her pay half and she agreed prior to moving in, then that shouldn't be a problem. Paying 1,700 is soul crushing on a 55k salary...

I can't speak on them. Whatever works for their situation works for them. But I know from my personal experience once that divorce court showed me I'm never covering all the bills again. She even was making enough to cover her portion when we separated but that's not how the judge saw it. They only saw me paying everything so that kept it that way for a year after we separated:stopitslime::francis::mjcry:
