The ending ruined the movie for me. No way Val Kilmer gets out with a fake drivers license.

his baby moms said it wasn't him and she was risking it all so they was like :ehh:

This is still the greatest shoot out ever on film to me. Any shoot out that's been good over the last 20 years probably went back and watched Heat first. I remember Michael Mann used real gun fire they shot off for the audio to make it as realistic as possible

the echos sounding off through the streets with the tall buildings :whew:

A cop stopped him after that. They had surveillance vids and pics of him. No cop killer is getting away like that.

GOAT shootout tho. I remember them filming it in LA when I was a kid

man, no way val kilmer was supposed to get out with a haircut and phony ID. I wanted deniro to win so bad :ohlawd:

also, they did your boy allstate bogus in the shootout.
I knew he would die the moment he stopped flippin burgers and joined the squad. My dude Tone Loc snitchin on Slick:snoop:

I wanted Deniro to win too. I still can't watch that movie till the end. I usually stop watching after he kills Waingro.

Michael Mann or whatever cinematographer he uses is the goat as far as picking locations. :wow:

No way Deniro’s character risks his scott free getaway with his lady, to go to the airport and clip a snitch when there’s a manhunt out for him.

That's the point tho.

He fell in love and got caught slipping. I've always felt like Pacino should have died in the end, but ultimately the ending (while corny) works the way it is. De Niro's character broke his personal rule and paid the price. Having him "win" (kill Pacino and escape) would have been poor writing.

Probably on most days, my favorite movie of all time.

De Niro didn't or was unwilling break his personal code in the end, first, he chose the criminal value system and his own code of loyalty, over his own his heart, and then, he walked away, that is the real heartbreaking moment, for both of them. As she looks out the window, after waiting, getting more and more confused, scared, regretful, she is in so far over her head, then, hope, as he appears. He turns away, and shatters her hopes and heart in that scene.

"There's no point in me going anywhere now, if it isn't with you"

I may have used a version of that line recently with my Ebie, damn.

So. Loud.

So loud, in an otherwise pretty quiet movie.

A movie so quiet the leads, opposite ends of the law, can sit down for a cup of coffee together.

And that blue tint all over the movie.

It's a masterpiece.

"Not enough steaks in the freezer."

I wish Michael Mann would do a Sci-Fi movie.
