Interview with Hell Razah from Sunz of Man |

MusicalFury – What’s up Hell Razah?

Hell Razah – Everything is going good and it even got better.

MusicalFury – Why is it getting better?

Hell Razah – A lot of the snakes I had around me are no longer there.

MusicalFury – Snakes, like who?

Hell Razah – People who I trusted revealed themselves to me and removed themselves.

MusicalFury – Well, I am glad to hear that. Where are you living these days, CT?

Hell Razah – I moved here recently close to New Haven area, and came here to establish my CT chapter of my Ghetto Government. My CT Chapter consists of Hell Razah Music Inc artists Suriel Scripture & Queentheprophet as well as other indie artists affiliates they were both working with previous to GGO. We also added Continous Intelligence who was referred to us by Steddie Beat Recordings.

MusicalFury – You are from Redhook Brooklyn, right?

Hell Razah – Yup, born and raised, Carmelo Anthony is from RedHook also.

MusicalFury – You have released an impressive catalog of music including the group efforts, what big projects are you working on right now?

Hell Razah – Right now, Renaissance Child Part 2 “Return of the Renaissnace” is schedule to be released in January, United Hoods of America (MXTP), volume 3 was just released July 4th, working on Razah’s Ark produced by Domingo, working on the Razah Rubiez album and working with Bronze Nazareth from Michigan. Also working on one with Shroom from Amsterdam, working on a Spiritual Scarface project and a second album with me produced from 4th Disciple, called Article 2, Write to Bare Arms. I also have a movie coming out this Summer “Freestyle 101 with Rza, Mobb Deep, The Game, Fat Joe, & more, as well as my “Thug Anonymous” DVD for 2014.

MusicalFury – How has life been treating you these days, seems like you have been staying very positive?

Hell Razah – Yes, always staying positive and keeping focused on making music. I have been working with my son also on his album, Kappo the Rennaisance Child, putting together the 1st Ghetto Govt album, as well as my girl Queen the prophet, the first lady of the Ghetto Govt. I am currently building my label Hell Razah Music Inc. The artists I am working with are my son Kappo, Scripture (CT Chapter GGO/ GGO Attorney General), Automatik Greatness (RI Chapter GGO/ GGO Secretary of Defense) Queentheprophet (CT Chapter GGO/ GGO 1st Lady), and the Black Wasps (Haiti Chapter of GGO).

MusicalFury – Who does Ghetto Gov’t consist of?

Hell Razah – The movement is global, we are in a whole lot of places. GGO is a movement. We have official Chapters (which contain multiple members) as well as area GGO representatives, which would be an established business as an affiliate. Members are artists, producers, DJS, as well as other business professionals. The movement is about uniting hoods and giving back to the community and we do this by community service projects & our music. Currently we have GGO representation in the following areas; New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, DC, VA, Michigan, Canada, Haiti, Thailand, New Mexico, California, Chicago, Florida, Amsterdam, New Jersey, Atlanta, These are artists and producers.

MusicalFury – How did it come about that you are working with all these people?

Hell Razah – This is from touring, some of them reached out to me and wanted to make music so we are making it happen. Others saw that our movement was not just about music and wanted to help. People can get involved in their areas by emailing ghettogovtinfo@gmail.com and get info about mxtp slots by emailing GGOMXTPS@gmail.com

MusicalFury – You recently had health issues, is that something you want to elaborate on?

Hell Razah – In 2010, I had a brain aneurysm which happened right after my Thug Angelz partner signed to gravediggaz. I had just done the Black Market Militia album, Timbo King, Killah Priest and I are the Macabeez and then include Tragedy Khadafi and William Cooper we became Black Market Militia.
At first I was unable to get out of bed, then I was in a wheel chair for awhile. I am now able to walk with a cane, I’m still recovering and getting stronger everyday. During my recovery, my former wife walked out and took my children with her. It has been a rough road, but I have a strong team and have learned to delegate more so that I can focus on my recovery & music.
MusicalFury – Yea, it seems like Killah Priest has a lot of music out.

Hell Razah – Yes, he is like Tupac, he has a really strong work ethic. We have the same work ethic. The Macabeez is produced by Sabrizio Sottie. The album is done we just have to release it now.

MusicalFury – Oh ok, now that you have that are you still going to do another Black Market Militia album with Tragedy and William Cooper?

Hell Razah – Yes, that will be part 2 coming soon. I also just did a movie called Freestyle 101. It shows how Freesylin and music relate to life, it is really good and is going to be on Esquire cable network. It has Ice T, RZA, the Game from west coast, Fat Joe, Mobb Deep, M.O.P., Cypress Hill, Sean Kingston, Prodical Sun, RA the Rugged Man. It should be in the film festivals too and video on demand.

MusicalFury – Have you been following any of the current music, anything interesting that you like?

Hell Razah – Today? Not really.

MusicalFury – I hear ya.

Hell Razah – I am a genuine hip hop listener, not what is going on right now. To me honestly, it is not hip hop it is bytch hop because it is about skinny jeans and a whole bunch of shyt they might as well be girls, man. Hip hop is based on baggy jeans and sneakers and shyt. If you go to a club like that they won’t even let you in now.

MusicalFury – Is it a blessing being associated with Wu Tang Clan?

Hell Razah – Yes it is, it is a very big blessing and that is why I honor and respect it. And my logo right now is the Wu Tang W but I flipped it to H. I want to keep the youth to know who they are. The young brothers that listen to me I want them to still respect them. I did it with the H because my label is Hell Razah Music Inc. and I don’t want anyone to forget that I am a Wu Tang fam member.

MusicalFury – I know Wu Tang is doing a 20th year anniversary album.

Hell Razah – Yes, hip hop really needs that right now. I am also working on a DVD right now that is part 2 to one that I did previously called Thug Anonymous. That is still being filmed now.

MusicalFury – Are you excited about the new Wu Tang Clan album that is supposed to drop in November?

Hell Razah – Uh huh, I am very excited because these little kids need that kind of music. Wu Tang are like the only ones that have been around from vintage Genuine artists like Biggie and Tupac and they not around now so Wu Tang is very needed today. Nas is up there too, he is dope. Mobb Deep coming back out and nobody was happy with them breaking up so everyone is glad they are getting back and Mobb Deep is very important to NYC just like Wu Tang and Nas.

MusicalFury – Will there be another Sunz of Man album?

Hell Razah – There will be another Sunz of Man album, That will be myself, Killah Priest, Prodical Sun and 60 Second Assassin.

MusicalFury – I was hoping that 60 second assassin would release an album for a while and then a couple years back he dazzled us with that solo project.

Hell Razah – Yes, we all had to round him up and told him he had to do that. That is why we were all on the album and it turned out nice.

MusicalFury – With all this positiveness radiating off of you, you must be religious?

Hell Razah – Not religious, I am spiritual though. I believe in God, that is the main influence in my music and the basis of Ghetto Govt.
