This thread was originally

Do y’all know anyone who lied about graduating college on their resume? How’d it work out?

Addendum: I want a job in PR. Someone I know said writing related jobs really don’t care if you have a degree or not nowadays. Can y’all help me make a resume?

In my field it wouldn't necessarily be a big deal (more of a trust issue, not a qualifications issue)

But why even lie about it? Must be the woat feeling if someone starts prying too much into your past. Maybe they hire an alum from the same school and they start asking too many questions.

What if you actually went...but didn’t graduate?

I did a internship in college at this insurance company as a human resource assistant and I would have to run background on people and people would actually send in a copy of their degrees, however the degrees had misspellings in it and also people didn't realize this isn't McDonald's where they take your word since u looking at a cashier position....you looking to earn $50,000 so we will do a deep background check

It was majority white guys trying to get over at the time

There is a third party company that verifies college attendance/graduation on behalf of many corporations. HR departments just submit names to the third party company, and the third party company verifies with the college.

I wouldn't advise doing it. You can get away with embellishing a great number of things on your resume, but college graduation and GPA is something that can be easily accessed especially if a certain position requires a certain academic level.

Some professions will ask about your final GPA and concentration.

The professional world is small breh.

You start claiming you graduated somewhere and before you know it one of your classmates is on the HR team of the job you're trying to get.

I'm just saying there are things you can fib about a little on a resume... this aint one of them :hubie:

That's how you get hired you can't be honest in corporate america. I lie about shyt all the time on appilications especially on them surveys and than I try to buddy up with someone that already works there and that's how you get hired. You don't get rewarded for being a genuine down to earth person in the work place. LIE LIE LIE!
