Libre or Open Office. Or your school might have Office365 for free.

Use open office

https://www.openoffice.org

It's compatible with MS Office, so you can even start working on something in MS Office at school and then open it /edit with open office at home

Is open office even being devolped anymore?

If you cant get a free version of office then Libre, Kingsoft, or Google Docs is fine.

Use Libre Office and not Open Office. OO is gonna get abandoned and Libre is much more up to date and maintained.
