now :whoa:

i know, i know prince had an impeccable run in the 80's with a string of innovative albums and while babyface didn't crank out albums like prince did in the 80's, the amount of great songs he's written for others while puttin' out a few great albums of his own i think is worthy of a comparison :ld:

so who would say is the better singer, songwriter and producer? :jbhmm:

Babyface by landslide...

Can We Talk
End of the Road
Breathe Again
Superwoman
Change The World (Eric Clapton; produced and background vocals)
Waiting To Exhale Soundtrack
Unprecedented Producer of the Year 3 wins in a row. 96-98.

To name a few. He was The Neptunes before The Neptunes.

yeah, i think in terms of music as a whole, like all the songs these guys have written and produced, it's a reasonable comparison

people forget just how great of a songwriter/producer babyface was

can't forget about the soundtrack for boomerang and waiting to exhale. oh yeah, soul food too

shyt, i wish face would've actually done a whole milestone album. all we ever got was this 1 classic song :wow:

k-ci's vocals on this were unbelievable :mjcry:

That's the 90s. He had hits in the 80s.
The Whispers' Rock Steady
Paula Abdul
Play Another Slow Jam (Co-wrote)
Two Occasions
The Jacksons, etc.

I'm a bigger fan of 90s run though.

Alicia damn near came talkin about the man's music :pachaha:

And the innovator of cool himself tipped his hat to him :mjcry:

Prince is big for peer musicians. Ironic, he didn't get into scoring more. That's the biggest test. Scoring not making music for the soundtrack.

I'm a Stan. Babyface is literally a god in the flesh. He's left-handed.

Who needs an appreciation thread is Norman Whitfield. He birthed the Teddy Rileys, DeVante Swings and The Neptunes and Timbalands, respectively. Unlike a Quincy Jones, Babyface and Pharrell, Norman was known to be a dikk and didn't value relationships or wanted to concede power. If he worked with more artists outside of Motown and his label, he'd be a properly heralded legend.
