I know we're all excited about the NFL season starting tonight, but here's hoping the season ends as it did when I was a youngster, with a blowout.

It is so weird to have every Super Bowl these days be such a close game down to the last couple of minutes every time, even the advertisers have figured it out and have moved most of the commercials in the last couple of years from heavy in the 1st quarter to heavy in the 4th because these games are so close. Why can't we have a good ol' coronation game like when the Ravens, Bucs, or Broncos last won their Super Bowls? Closest we came was when the Colts won, but for some reason they kept settling for field goals.

The finality of a blowout to end a season can't be underestimated. :ohlawd:

Teams are to close in terms of talent. Back in the day when you had the Cowboys and the Skins and 9ers etc. dominating those teams had a decided advantage in talent. The only way we see a blowout now is if their is some catosrophic injury or some major fukkups.

Well, we got close this year, a little closer than we've been in recent years. It was shaping up to be a good beatdown of a team caught in the lights before the lights went out and they had a chance to think and breathe.

Just once more, I'd like to see a team win the Super Bowl the way Alabama won the BCSNCG.
Maybe next year.

2013 season starts tonight and the hope remains the same.
Let's hope the losers leave New Jersey frozen, beaten, and thoroughly humiliated.

No, it's not that. It's that they're more enjoyable.
For me.
How is the biggest game of the year being a blowout more enjoyable?

There's nothing better than the biggest game of the year coming down to a final drive.

The final game shouldn't be a testament to how great a team is by a showcase in which they dominate the other, it should be a battle between two of the best teams in the league.

Bucs-Raiders was the last blowout of epic proportions in the Super Bowl.

The Raiders ain't been the same since.

Did you read my first post?

Anyway, every close game is not a good game.
And there's something fishy about every SB being super close every year now. Watching watered down teams fighting in the super-parity era is not that compelling.
