I spent every Summer of my youth in Harlem and The Bronx with family, so I’m pretty familiar with how NY get down…

…but in my entire life of East Coastin’, I have NEVER heard anybody refer to weed as “Tical”. :stopitslime:

I think with A LOT of slang, nikkas be making shyt up HOPING that it will catch on.

I remember one time I read an interview with E-40, where he was discussing doin’ it big when you got money, and he was talmbout how they be “sky ballin’”. I was like :heh:

Yea, E-40 is out there with his slang. Some of the shyt he be saying is dope tho :manny:

Now "tical" and most of the other slang that Wu and staten islanders were using wasn't really something they was "hoping" would catch on. Staten is basically isolated from the other boroughs and they had their own slang and style. It's one of the reasons Wu was so dope.

But Tical wasnt weed....It was weed mixed with dust. And that wasnt a popular combination like that amongst cats. Anyone who smoked dust in th 90's was seen on the same level as a crackhead so it wasnt popular like that. The urban community was still recovering from the 80's myth that "woolys" were ok.

Keep in mind...CREAM did catch on and its still used till this day.

"KIM"/keep it movin'... was the title of some songs and all that... but I don't believe I've ever heard or seen someone actually use it in conversation.

In Belly, Meth used it when T Boz pulled out that gun on him and his crew when they broke in her and Nas' home. Thats the only time I ever heard someone use that term.

Yup, me too... and that was in a movie, said by a rapper... so even that doesn't count. That shyt musta been a word that only existed in mid/late-90s hip-hop.

Come to think of it, I NEVER heard a nikka outside of Philly refer to someone as “scrap”….that’s, like, regular for us, kinda like saying “joe” in Chicago. :manny:

But Tical wasnt weed....It was weed mixed with dust.

Ahhh….well that explains it. I couldn’t fukk with the dust.

I still say this, actually.

nikkas gotta remember when Joe Budden tried to start "Overstand Me" :russ:

shyt had me dying whenever he said it
