INVADING SOHH CHAMPION
Lynn, was great.
Plus, real talk....
In the past four years.
there really has not been to many matches, in all of wrasslin.
from domestic to overseas, that could see the early roh directv show main events.
or the actual consistent match to match workrate of lynn as the roh direct tv era champion.
meaning, everytime lynn was shown inring as an directv Roh champ.
he always had a five star match and an incredible promo.
to preview and setup the match, as well.
plus people forget,....
roh as a domestic tv show was launched with lynn as champion as well.
not to mention, his promos were underrated.
which may have been because he wore glasses.
yet, i look ast that aspect of his character as being kind o fearless fly-ish.
which added to his bf charm as a performer.
if more people peeped his promo game.
especially as he aged, they would ahve seen he was a more than a very capable talker.
his retirement promo at the end of his run on roh.
was heartfelt and totally inspiring and convincing.
his promo to lead into a build up for his roh freetv title defenses.
were better than anyone else on roh promowise, on that tv show at that exact time.
also,....the setup and payoff to put over rvd on ecw.
was also,....one of the most remembered matches of that era.
lynn anchored a debut show that was so much better than the competition.
you did not have to watch any other wrasslin program at that time at all.
except for a bit of tna, and smackdown here and there.
lynn's defenses on roh featured five star tv matches.
that set the stage for the show to have five star freetv mainevents back to back as the norm, every telecast when it first debuted.
lynn was defending in fourways.
with crazy innovative spots that freetv had never seen by that point.
that were more evolved or as sick in one match.
than most of the a-typical ecw three way pre-req telecast dance of crazy/tajiri/insert a guy.
earlier in his career, he was pretty much and argueably the best domestic soil born caucasian cruiser.
that also, argueably could have been the best spot innovative cruiser for that small window of time as well.
[only person, i know to be better was the real art barr.
who, imo....barr was head and shoulders the most innovative next level grappler of all time.
real talk,...his only comp on paper for his size or weight distinction or look wise was were a healthy pillman.
as far as cruiser who were labelse as such with titles were concerned.
yet, if lynn was opposite of liger as pillman.
you could plug in xyz type formulas and expec the same classic match results, pillman had with liger a few years later after lynn tore up the indy's in a feud with who is now known as shawn waltman/syxx/xpac. formerly, known as the wwf's 123 kid.
of which, i am not sure how socially lynn fit in.
as he was not afforded the ability to repackage himself like waltman did as syxx.
when real talk, outside of selling ability.
waltman, was never in lynn's actual league as a worker.
which, imo...lynn actually carried and ramped up waltman in those earlier feuds of acclaim.
that put both he and waltman on the map.
the other reasons why lynn never took off as a mainstream talent was size and the fact domestic mainstream wrasslin outside of heyman.
plus, cornette despite the odd requests of the legendary rick rubin of defjam at smokey.
was run by two of the most ignorant punk ass white ass good ole boi whitemen and cliques in a mainstream marketed industry ever.
who got by on the tailoff residual effects of rocky iii.
lynn was the truth.
he just never had the luck of social group pairings, and the so-called size.
to be more than a darkhorse cult favorite.
if you know wrasslin,...
you know lynn was that dude.
