Hit-Boy is stepping away from the boards. The super-producer has announced his retirement from music production.

He took to Twitter on Wednesday to share the shocking news. “I retired from music industry production last night,” tweeted Hit without providing further information.

The 27-year-old rose to fame producing Jay Z and Kanye West’s 2011 hit “Ni**as in Paris” for their joint album Watch the Throne, and went on to work with superstars including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Drake, Mariah Carey, and Kendrick Lamar.

It’s unclear what he plans to do next, but he has been focusing on his rap career and running his label Hits Since 1987. In May, HS87 release its first compilation We the Plug featuring his artists Audio Push, K. Roosevelt, BMactheQueen, and more.

I think he's a pretty decent rapper but he's a far better producer.

Damn that sucks, but I'm positive he'll still be producing on the low, you can't just come out the gates with huge placements and then stop

Looks like he wants to focus on being an artist. He should stick to the beats. I remember when he was rollin' with Chase N. Cashe and they had the Surf Club thing going. It was dope! He seemed a little more focused on production and being in the cut back then. More producers should stay behind the scenes and hone their craft.
