Hit records do more for an artist career and pockets than a classic Album ever could

Rack City >> whatever new underground artist album that yall recently claim a classic.

Tyga Purchases $6.5 Million Mansion In Kardashian’s Neighbor Hood (Pictures)

I hate the term "classic" anyway, but that's another thread.

I just think this fact needs to be mentioned. I also think a lot of Hip Hop heads don't give credit to rappers that can constantly make hits. Rap music changes so fast so to be able produced hits with every release is talent.

Jay z, Wayne and Kanye come to mind.

Nah

Hit Record money gives you short money.

Classic Albums give you long money.

By that I mean if you have a catalog with a few classic album he will have a loyal fanbase that will ride with you till the end. A hit gets you a bunch of fans that will forget about you when the next flash in the pan rapper shows up.

You could talk about all the people getting paid off that one hit they made a long ass time ago but those are exceptions. Also I think Tyga would hate if for the rest of his career he became "The Rack City Guy".

That's if you care about music and a rap career.

Where's the New Boyz at, D4L, The White Tee guys, The Party Like A Rockstar guys? :ld:

Are you saying that you'd rather hear a hit record over a classic album? :usure: Cause that's the only thing that really should matter to listeners.

Who cares which makes a artist more money?

Of course I rather hear albums that I deem classic, Not nerds on a hiphop board

But, this isn't about that. Its about how some people careers aren't looked at favorable among yall because they dont have a catolog full of classic albums

maybe that's how ya'll roll in the modern itunes era

but the skill it takes to craft a classic album > the skill it takes to make a hit record

deck is a good example, would you place him as the best member in the clan just cuz he dropped a few classic verses and kills the guest appearances?

QFT

Plus a classic album/s gives you material to perform when your out on the road.

The only artists who can fill a venue and keep the crowd going for several hours are those with a good catalogue.

Acts who have been doing music for a very long time are the only ones who can get away performing only their hit records (newer more recent artists dont have enough hits to pull this off)

There are 'cult' classics that don't really do anything for the artist in the long run. MF Doom could live off the supposed classics he made and still not make as much as someone that has a smash hit

EDIT: How? It's not even in print anymore ^

Probably now in this current era, where everyone can basically pick and choose the singles that they want and whatnot, instead of having to cop a whole album but from an artistic perspective that's a pretty dumb thing to say.

Having one hot song and 12 other garbage tunes on an album doesn't make you a good artist. :snoop:

If that was the case then Soulja Boy is a certified legend for Superman. :beli:

Blu will eat off Below the Heavens forever...foh with this garbage thread

Rack City has done and will do more for Tyga than the classic Album that the artist you are talking about does.

This thread is not about quality of artist it is about what is better for an artist

I can kind of see where OP is coming from. These days, getting a smash hit will allow you to eat a lot longer than someone with a critically acclaimed album that no one hears. You can live off that album but your earning potential greater if you make hit records than classic records. So if all you care about is the money then obviously hit records are the better route and it does take talent.

Flo-Rida is eating better than AZ.
