Studio time (recording, mixing & mastering)
Music Videos
Photo shoots (studio rentals, photographers, models etc)
Promo (DJs, Publicist, Worldstar etc)
Upkeep (clothes)
Paperwork (copyright filing, getting encorporated potentially, lawyer etc)

The last time I checked an upload on Worldstar is like $850. By the time dudes officially let the dream go they may have potentially to have spent over 40k without even making a dent in the culture.

Do you have any stories regarding this?

You just scratched the surface :mjlol:

A lot of these rappers buy a mic and protools and a computer for their own in home studio

You have to pay to “book” your own shows

Weed for all of the hangers on

Buying rappers with slightly bigger followings to be on their tracks

All to chase a dream that most of them aren’t even good at :francis: the sad part is that people see rapping as “an easy way toward upward mobility” when really it’s what’s holding them back :wow:

Majority like 99% of “rappers” are taking losses and they’re mostly blowing their girls’ monies.

It ain't even that hard. My boy in OKC recorded on an 8 track. You can literally record your shyt for $50.

If your shyt is fly, then it'll get traction.

I salute that. There are exceptions to every rule but most of these guys aren't going to get it done that way

one of my friends still lives with his parents and spends all his money on tattoos and designer clothes.
He already has recording equipment set up in another friend of mines apartment, another friend supplying him with beats but he literally puts all the money he makes for his image in his rap career. Had the check engine light on his truck and decided to buy a grill instead of fixing it. we go way back and i'll support him but sometimes im just like :snoop:. Funny thing is he used to always look down on trap music/mumble rap but now that's all he makes

It takes a lot of money and connection morso than talent(not saying it isn't needed).
I have family members who has "deals". I've seen 15k being spent on promotions, beats, placements etc. Goal is to get an even bigger bag from these labels but you will have to spend some money or make your self hot.

The minimum a grinding rapper needs to spend is on:

Recording(professionally mixing and mastering)
Videos
Promo (word of mouth is not enough )
Beats
Artwork for mixtape/Album
