i have been a hardcore boxing head for maybe 9 solid years it started with the George Grooves Vs Carl Froch rematch so i understand i have a lot to get hipped to. i have watched many fights prior but since then i havent missed a major clash.

my question i have had this back and forth mainly in youtube comments but my opinion is AJ ran in the second fight. yes its boxing his meant to avoid getting hit and move and etc, but it was one of the most boring fights i have watched and i watched it live.

ruiz jnr was rotund and depleted yet AJ got through on points, asking the coli pro's what is your real assessment of the AJ Vs Ruiz Jnr second fight?

James Toney just commented on radio "AJ was scared" but thats because AJ made a comment that he could knock James Toney out. heres the footage :

it's not running if you land enough punches to win the fight :yeshrug:
"scared" might be more true since it was a clear adjustment based on the first fight but that's just strategy to me. The goal is to win. If you know dude has fast heavy hands then do what you need to to avoid that strength of his. common sense. no fighter is obligated to stand and trade like a dummy to prove anything to haters/casuals

for sure, i am not a casual or a hater as AJ is nigerian too but i am a novice. its just after that fight to me and still i think he is 3rd best HW in the division right now, behind fury and wilder but i also think Ruiz Jnr is like Top 5. i rate him very highly.

i hear what you are saying though, i keep getting bashed about my view but to me i think Andy would beat him again if they ever clashed but a lot is depending on his ability the next fight which might be chris arreola.

The objective is to win one round at a time. Fights are approached differently depending on the opponent. It would have been stupid for AJ to fight Ruiz headon after what happened in pt1

He didn't run, he fought smart and got the desired result. The same people criticizing AJ's approach would be the same ones calling him stupid/unable to adjust if he approached it the same way he approached the first fight. The adjustment he made showed he's a good fighter. How can you rate Wilder higher than him?

Please don't tell me you're one of those boxing critics that thought Mayweather was boring

Both.
He fought at a distance conservatively because he didn’t want to engage in a shoot out because he fought the risk would be far too high.

He fought smart, did exactly what he was supposed to do, if he went reckless and got caught again people would say he was dumb as fukk, he won probably 11 of the 12 rounds, clear and comfortable win. That's how boxing can work at elite level, Lennox beat Tua on points not knocking him out, Floyd beat mad people on points, it's a sport not a tough man contest. He did his job superbly, credit to him.

He was timid..weak but it was the smart fight plan for him obviously combined with Ruiz not training like his family's future was on the line.

Boxed smart as hell because honestly, he made dumb mistakes in the first fight. You don't trade on the inside with counterpuncher, especially one with some of the fastest hands in the division. It's hard because most people haven't seen Ruiz's earlier fights to know how much of and bytch he is to deal with (quick draw combinations and a granite chin).

The Dimitrenko fight before he fought Joshua shows him at his best. And if he gets back to that shape he still can beat anyone in the division. Joshua did what he needed to do to guarantee the win.

This I've watched Ruiz since back in the days when he was on Pacquiao's undercards at TR. Ruiz can fight and has a lot of skill. His only problem was his conditioning. It cost him in the Parker fight to a small degree although it was close and it cost him his belts in the Joshua rematch. Ruiz is a problem

He was smart rather than scared but even if you think he was scared it’s an experience that showed he has the ability to fight that sort of fight if he needs to.

Imo if he’d just gone and knocked him out without getting hit/avoiding getting hit it would have left HUGE question marks over him. He proved a lot in the fight for me.

It worked but he swallowed his pride, tucked his tail between his legs and kept those legs moving the opposite direction of that fat man...

He didn't want any smoke on the inside and that IMO would have been perfectly fine if he took his L admirably instead of crying for 6 months about a "lucky punch"...

You can't cry about lucky punches as if that man has no hands and keep your distance from him for 12 rounds in the rematch...That's a flagrant bytch move...
