only way to really tell if a cat is from Chicago is if they use certain words. In terms of accent :jbhmm: they don't really got one, meaning it aint really noticeable :dame:

Chicago dudes sound more country than some Memphis nikkas. Like listen to Chief Keef, that's what I think of as a Chicago accent
yea but if it wasn't for the words Keef used, you wouldn't be able to tell he's from Chicago. Its weird that Chicago doesnt really have its own style

it's called the mid-western accent

fun fact: that's the accent used in all media, movies and TV because it's the best sounding accent
i agree with this. Its real easy for Chicago dudes to sound regular. Easy example is Derrick Rose

Everyone has an accent :heh: The midwestern accent isn't "no-accent" it's just the most neutral sounding one and this is the one used for boilerplate media (the news, entertainment news, etc), and mid-westerners have tested as being the most averse to hearing anything that doesn't sound like them. The west coast accent strikes people as being too liberal, the New England and Northeast Accents are associated with elitism (upper class) or aggressive (lower class), and the southern accent as unprofessional (upper class) or dumb (lower class).

The mid-west being so big and not associated with any particular lifestyle stereotypes and the really flat vowel sounds make it sort of "basic" english

It's the most boring accent imo :manny:
