Honestly I don't get why the average consumer is buying the Xbox One or PS4 right now

Different times now. First person shooters are all the rave now. I'm looking forward to the indies, tho. The demo for Octodad actually had me laughing out loud

For the average consumer that's not a tech geek what do they see in these devices that justifies the feverish way they've been buying them? Honestly most of the games on them are previous generation titles. Sure they look a bit better but if I was a regular adult with responsibilities, a family, major bills, or whatever I couldn't possibly see blowing that kinda money on either of these things when there's no real value in owning either right now.

How is it a waste of money unless the prices drop soon? THEY WONT. Until PS4 dropped 360 and PS3 were STILL $300. PS4 i $400.. I don't see the waste of money. From now til nov next year there will be over 20 releases.

the question of staying with the older consoles for two years if i had to is laughable because my backlog of games on the previous gen consoles I've yet to play is well over 50 games. I'll never finish it most likely many of those games would go unplayed. that quoted number is on consoles because I own 64 games on Steam of which I've completed 1 (Bioshock Infinite).

as for me not being a tech enthusiast that's laughable. how many other people do you know that own both a black and a white Playstation Vita at the same time? the class of tech buyer i'm in is very far from even most of the people on this forum. at one point i had 3 Xbox 360s and 2 PS3s. 90% of what i do with my free money is buy tech gadgets i don't need or likely won't even be using a month after purchase.

I don't think any price drops will happen for the next 3 years. People buying ipads/iphones for more money. Consoles are actually cheap. My ipad was like $700..

its not a waste of money. for 1 the price isn't dropping anytime soon. what is guaranteed to happen is you will miss out on ps+ free games that will eventually be removed from the free to download list. miss out on free games hoping for future price drops brehs. lol suckas.....

I bought both because I'm a fool and I know it. I'm the same idiot that bought a $1500 55 in TV and 3 months later bought another $1500 46 in TV then three months after that spend $1700 on a third 55 in TV just to sit it next to the first one. mind you i already had a 32 and 42 in before I started buying the other ones so I'm the dumb ass in a one bedroom with 5 TVs. Had to sell the 32 and the 42 on CL for peanuts just to get rid of them.

so yeah I'm a known dumb ass. that's my excuse but when I look at these systems with a rational mind buying them becomes a joke.
