Honestly the rule changes slanted towards offenses makes it hard to grade every QB since 2000

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Because you can't touch or hit players over the middle anymore and because teams run these dink and dunk spread offenses, its really hard to grade any QB that came into the NFL after 2000. Stats use to mean something but now they don't mean nothing. Defensive players can't make receivers pay for going across the middle and you can lay a hand on players after 5 yards anymore so DB's and linebackers have been conditioned to play soft in coverage, even in bump and run. It makes bad quarterback put up average numbers and good quarterbacks put up great numbers. Defenses are easy to read because there is only so much they can do. Stats have become so irrelevant that they only matter when it comes to fantasy football.

THE MAJOR CHANGES STARTED COMING AFTER THE 03 SEASON,
AND HAVE GOTTEN WORSE EACH SEASON SINCE.

THATS WHY I RESPECT PRIME BRET FARVE SO MUCH.

HE DID WHAT THESE QBS ARE NOW DOING
BUT IN A MUCH ROUGHER ERA FOR QBS.

QBS USED TO RETIRE DUE TO CONCUSSIONS
NOW YOU CANT EVEN ACCIDENTALLY GRAZE THEIR HELMETS WITH YOU HAND.

THE WR STATS ARE INFLATED TOO.
THE MIDDLE IF THE FIELD IS SO OPEN NOW...
EVERYONE GOES ACROSS THE MIDDLE WITH NO WORRIES NOWADAYS.

I just said this yesterday about Favre. That dude was a fukking legend and a warrior

For example, I don't know what's really wrong with Cutler right now, but I can say with 100% certainty that Favre would be playing through it right now

Not to mention the gaudy stats he put up, I've just got alot of respect for dude as a football player

I agree. 4,000 yards is the norm nowadays
And what I hate the most is how teams are inside the 5 yard line and won't even bother to hand the ball off. They could give a fukk about a RB these days. They'd rather drop back and inflate the QBs stats (Rodgers, Brees) but I'm not blaming the QBs, they're not calling the plays

Man you must be half way reading my mind. I was working on a thread now saying that there isn't a lack of QB talent but teams not being able to run because teams no longer build to run because it's so easy to pass now days. This is where I left off so I'll just add it here
A lot has been said lately of the NFL having a shortage of great quarterbacks and how the quarterback play is terrible. But it is the NFL that has caused it's own problem.
Teams are trying to keep up with the Joneses of the Packers and Patriots and teams with elite QBs by throwing the ball all around the field instead of running. Teams no longer are built to be run 1st and that's why there is a perceived lack of QB talent when in reality there's no difference than what there has always been. Teams back in the day were built to run and ran it more to hide sorry ass qb play. Teams now a days don't because the NFL has made is so easy to pass.

It's not really that hard. You compare people to their peers and take era into account when comparing across generations. 4,000 yds ain't what it used to be. TD/INT ratio ain't what it used to be. Yet and still certain guys separate themselves and some do so in a fashion that is historically relevant.

This is nothing new BTW. The 90's were pass happy and overly protective of the QB and the offense in comparison to previous eras and people from previous eras bytched about it then. People talk all this shyt about the game being tilted towards the offense but the real life is that's what nikkas want. I never see threads about defensive schemes and rarely see them about defensive players but you can count on Brady/ARod/Manning threads full of people giving all the credit/blame to the QB and completely ignoring any other facet of the game to stay posted on that front page until February along with some "who's the top 5 wrs" and "who's the GOAT RB" threads thrown in.
