The Charlotte Hornets are on course to sign swingman Jeremy Lamb to a contract extension for three years and $21 million before Monday's midnight deadline for such extensions, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com on Sunday night that the Hornets and Lamb are close to finalizing the deal.

Has this dude even proved he's worthy of a roster spot in the NBA, let alone 7 mil per?

He had a solid preseason and has looked decent to start this season. This deal will mean nothing when the cap rises. It's a low risk gamble to extend him now. He could kill this season and the hornets would be forced to match some dikkhead like Cuban with a crazy offer sheet
