I own a home and that's what I prefer. The fluctuation of HOA fees is a deal breaker for me. Basically living in an apartment is a deal breaker for me. Having a board determine things I might not agree with is a deal breaker for me

How can people complain about home maintenance costs when your HOA fees can go up at any moment. Some of these condo fees hit $1000 :dead:
You telling me paying a hoa fee forever is better than putting that same money in your bank account and saving it for whenever maintenance comes up?
I been in my house for a decade and probably spent like $5-7k total in maintenance. I put a new frame and security door on last month for $1200, had a gas leak that was like $1800, tree roots in my pipes that was like $800, a leak in a ceiling that was like $400, etc. That 5-7k is like hoa fees for ONE YEAR :what:

HOA fees can be a pain with condos. Especially if you don’t have a competent company handling this. Add to it, the price will always go up. You just have to pray it isn’t every 2 years…. Some people end up completing their mortgage only to have their HOA’s end up feeling like a new mortgage; exaggerating but you should get the point….. Ask me how I know lol
