I hope it happens man. I wanna see a Texas vs LSU rivalry. I wanna see if Sarkisian can dip into that Southeastern pipeline(Florida, Alabama, Geaogia). Have all them boys coming West to Austin.

I can’t lie, I’m excited for this.

it’s widely accepted that Texas is the western frontier of the South. So why not?

I know Texas isn’t doing this for a 5* recruit but this definitely helps Texas get Arch Manning imo

He could get to play:

His home state team (LSU)
Eli & Archie’s team (Ole Miss)
Peyton’s team (Tennessee)
UT’s biggest rival (OU)
UT’s former bitter rival (A&M)
Biggest program in the sport (Alabama)

This is all dependent though on if Arch is still in school by the time this move is made.

Yeah, defense has changed. But there are still some good defenses in the SEC that can make it very hard to do what you want to do.

no doubt, but the good teams with solid talent easily putting up points vs anyone with these offenses today. it's too open and spread out to defend consistently.

Shiit all they need is Clemson and they would have all the damn football schools in the south.

Texas will hardly be Nebraska status in the SEC. Nebraska has a problem that nobody wants to go there and it’s not in a recruiting hotbed. Texas has way more advantages that they have going for itself being in a great city, a great recruiting hotbed, and a program that can recruit nationally. The problem was donors more than Texas itself.

It nearly happened in 2010 but A&M held it up. It is not a secret that Texas and the Pac 10 feelings were mutual even when the SWC broke up. But politics stepped in the way. Those same politics exist no longer.

As far as Texas going independent? Never will happen. It can work with Catholic rich Notre Dame and mormon rich BYU. But Texas doesn't have it like that. In fact, there are probably only a handful literally that can handle that.

As far as Texas recruits being overrated. Ok. Still better than most states around the nation.

Texas recruits are fine.....UT Austin recruits are overrated. UT tends to get dudes that lack fire. Austin breakfast burritos, weed and fine azz girls will sap you of that hunger.

Austin will not change around them. That's my point. Austin is like a Cali city. It is hard to stay focused on football like other places for those young dudes. It won't be any easier when they are part of the SEC and they have even more attention and getting money on endorsements. Oklahoma is set up better to compete in my opinion. Texas has other issues all around them that affect them.
