“If they join the SEC, I’ll commit today,” said Evan Stewart, the 2022 five-star wide receiver from Frisco Liberty.

Texas borders about to be closed.:wow: @Numpsay

I think it's state law that Oklahoma can't leave without OKST. :yeshrug:

There's an article in the Athletic that talks about this

No state law, OU's former president had influence last time that's why Ok. State was attached to OU.

Still, expect there to be significant political pressure from state lawmakers with ties to Oklahoma State. It’s also worth noting that Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt is an Oklahoma State alumnus, although he hasn’t made any public statements about this situation.

Alexander and other sources told The Athletic that even if the state legislature were to pass a law mandating that OU and OSU remain in the same conference and even if the governor signed it, it probably wouldn’t hold up in court because of the way university governance is arranged in the state. — Jason Kersey [Quotte]

Texas A&M should join the Big Ten in response. Putting them in the west division would make sense: that way their main competition to get to the conference total game are Wisconsin and Iowa. Not saying it’ll be a cake walk but it’s def easier than the division with OSU, Michigan, MSU, Penn State etc. You win the conference you go to the playoffs with a top 4 seed.

If you're the coaches at OU and TX aren't you pissed at this?

They not Bob Stoops.... I'm sure they knew about this and were under gag order. They're about to get raises and from what we've seen, they are worth it.

Million dollar assistant coaches in the SEC.... Make it rain, bytch!!!!

It'll happen sooner than 5 years.

Word on the street is that OU & Texas is prepared to pay for their release and/or they are planning to initiate dissolve protocol.

The conference bylaws state that a majority has to agree in order for the conference to be dissolved. So, they need 6 teams to find a home so OU & Texas can leave without forfeiting their GOR rights (TV money) to the conference & its schools and the conference cannot litigate.

There is internet chatter going around that Kansas (definitely) and maybe Iowa State will pursue membership with the B1G or PAC.

So you only need 2 more teams to find homes.

Texas recruits are fine.....UT Austin recruits are overrated. UT tends to get dudes that lack fire. Austin breakfast burritos, weed and fine azz girls will sap you of that hunger.
UT recruits are fine. What they have lacked is coaching. JK dobbins would not have been the same player at Texas as he was at Ohio State. Had no problem during the Mack Brown era but what’s the problem now?

i can agree that Austin could be looked at as a disadvantage just as much as an advantage.

They're not leaving the SEC. It doesn't make geographical sense. Travel is more expensive and harder on students, and more importantly, parents.

It would be easier for Mizzou, but they ain't leaving either, even if the B1G comes calling! They missed that boat when they turned them down when Nebraska got in and denied them. It makes more sense for Mizzou to be in the B1G.

Maybe they’re going to have to pay

Texas and OU officials plan to inform the Big 12 on Monday that they won’t renew when the league’s grant of rights expire in 2025, a step that clears the path for the SEC to formally consider adding Texas and OU.

Again, barring unforeseen circumstances, an SEC vote on adding Texas and Oklahoma "could move quickly," the source told Horns247.

“In this changing landscape of college athletics, this is what’s best (for Texas and Oklahoma),” the source said.

Horns247 reported previously that Texas and Oklahoma are prepared to wait until the current grant of rights agreement expires in 2025 before moving on from the Big 12,

To leave earlier, Texas and OU would be contractually bound to give up their four remaining years of Big 12 television revenue, which would total nearly $160 million each (based on 2019's $37.7 million payout per school) - although such situations in the past have been settled in court to allow both sides to move on.

They are hoping the conference can be dissolved. Only 6 teams, including OU & Texas have to find new homes, then the conference cannot sue and claim GOR money.

Waiting is a last option.
