OU is a solid basketball program, Texas hasn’t been too hot recently but they’ve had good years as well, add that to Kentucky, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Florida? It can only help the SEC.

Texas will likely start the season in the top 5. New coach, arena
Well you fool SEC schools when you try to get into the conference and hire a Saban assistant coach as your head coach.

But that's good to know.:mjlit:

LOL. look at our coaching history. Not the history of a school they cares about football or can attract a real coach.

Literally nobody, not even Texas fans, are saying this. Because that's not the way it went down. Go do some research on what went down.

Or, just believe what you want tho, aggie. :hubie:
Texas fans aren't in a place to rub anything into OU today because both needed each other. But you know damn well that won't last.:mjlit:

I'm embracing the hell out of this breh. It's the best parts of the old SWC now. Like I said. A&M needs to roll with it.:manny:

I won't post everything bc it's from SoonerScoop, a premium site.

UPDATE FRI 1:43pm: SEC has the votes, OU is going to the SEC, Bedlam will go away for now.

UPDATE FRIDAY 1:43PM

Just got word from very good source in SEC. It may not even come to a point where the SEC takes a vote if they know enough members are on board to make the invite official. But if a vote was taken it would be 13-1.

Also talked to a source close to the scheduling situation. If everyone takes off or even if this thing strings out to the conclusion of the 2024 season. Bedlam is not going to be a priority to be played. OU won't be buying out any contracts that have been previously signed for non-conference games.

OU is not opposed to keeping Bedlam going, but logistically they don't have non-conference room for several years in the future.

Also someone wanted me to relay the process of how this will all work.

They are hoping the conference can be dissolved. Only 6 teams, including OU & Texas have to find new homes, then the conference cannot sue and claim GOR money.

Waiting is a last option.
T. Boone Pickens is dead so OK State isn't close to as desirable as it used to be.
TTU/TCU/Baylor could have some issues moving on.
Kansas is desirable for PAC 12. AAU school. Elite Basketball tradition. Big Ten as well.
Iowa State is attractive for the Big 12 due to its academics and sports culture. AAU as well.

KSU, OSU, the other Texas schools, could be in trouble

The B1G/Iowa needs to swallow their pride and take Kansas & Iowa State. They are both AAU, ISU is great in the big money revenue sports and KU has their legendary basketball program. It makes geographical sense too.

I'm hoping the PAC changes its position in adding Big XII teams or the ACC takes WVU. Assuming the B1G takes Kansas & ISU, you only need 2 more teams to allow the dissolution of the conference to take place without penalty.

If it doesn't happen then, Texas & OU will wait this out, then the other schools will be fukked come 2024.

They can merge with the AAC (which isn't a bad idea).

I don't think the other Big 12 schools would be spiteful or hurt themselves trying to "wait it out", but it'll be interesting...This scenario has existed for almost a decade, so I have to think that at least some of the other Board of Trustees have planned for this and thought about where they could go

Somewhere like KSU shouldn't even be a P5 program imo anymore. I could see OSU being a risky investment someone takes just for the occasional super electric season from Gundy, but he doesn't have many years left.

A&M and OU aren't bitter rivals. You're trying to soften the partnership they made with UT on this. Come on. Everyone sees it. OU didn't leave until TX wanted it.

It could've been OU/New Mexico, and they wouldn't have blocked it. it boils down to the vitriol between them and tx.

That's not true, but go ahead and cook. OU has already known that we were leaving when this contract expired. This shyt was just a band aid. If former OU president David Boren and Bob Stoops were in favor of moving everything to the SEC, we would have left when everyone else did. OU told Texas we were leaving with or without you. This prospectus has been in works for about 6 months, but this day for OU alumni and fans has been a long time coming.

I'm pretty sure it only requires 4 teams leaving for the conference to go into dissolution. Remember although it's called the Big 12 there is only 10 total teams.

I mean, does Bedlam even need to be played? :manny: One of the most uneven “rivalry” games out there

It's always a great game regardless. And just being a traditional in-state rival school it's always fun.

Oklahoma State has been a really good team for the past decade or so. They could really flourish in the Pac12 IMO. Any of the past several years they're better than anyone Pac12 other than maybe Oregon.

When the Big 12 lost Mizzou, A&M, Nebraska etc, it was on borrowed time. Those are all 3 important programs in the conference history. West Va and TCU were both solid ads, but they're not traditionally on the level of the the 3 schools lost.
