If Rockets are unable to recruit Dwight Howard, I'm told second preference is Josh Smith. Sixers also targeting Smith, says a source

According to Vescey, the Houston Rockets have Smith labeled as a back up plan should they fail to lure Dwight Howard from the Lakers. Popular wisdom around these parts had the Rockets pursuing both Howard and Smith but its going to be difficult for Houston to get that much salary relief.

The second part of the Vescey report also has the Philadelphia 76ers interested in Smith. If you remember they were in on him when he was a restricted free agent also before settling on Elton Brand whom they later used the amnesty provision on.

The thing with Smith comes down to the asking price. He has declared that he thinks of himself as a max player but didn't really say that was what he would ask for. In a recent interview, Larry c00n suggested that free agents like Smith could have a much harder time luring a big money deal out of teams this summer because of the ramifications of the new CBA.

as a sixers fan...im tired of even trying to build through free agency/picking between 10-15 in the draft

lets just tank for as many years as it takes until we get a "star" to build around...i dont care how many years it takes. Straight bobcats style

His style of play (minus the dumb shyt) would fit in Philly but.... Them being such a young team I dont think i want Josh in there with no true veteran leadership.

I mean come one. The "veterans" on there would be Bynum (if he resigns) and Josh freakin' Smith. :mindblown:

Yeah, its working out REAL well for the Bobcats so far. They are about to be the only franchise ever to be around 10+ years and never even WIN a playoff game. SMH.
