C:\
The public was informed of the thousands of incident reports coded in HPD's computer system as suspended due to a lack of personnel. The code was created back in 2016.

HPD Chief Troy Finner promised the code wouldn't be used going forward. When asked why the code couldn't be deleted, Finner said their record management system is so outdated that the whole system would crash if they tried to delete it.

Reminds me of some of the posts here:

There's currently one senior dev who understands the system for 15,000 doctors in Canada. There's lots of people to install and support it, but understanding the 1.5 million line code base... it's down to one - Yay corporate mergers!
This is really common too - impossible to maintain systems that are responsible for critical transactions (especially healthcare) being supported by very few people.

I'm not sure if people realize how much of our infrastructure is so delicate and it ain't an easy problem to solve. This is why people demand high pay and patience.

People's records are at the whim of a problematic code base probably because whoever is in charge didn't want to take the time and do it right.

What that fukk? What's going on with the tech in Houston?
The sad part is it ain't just Houston.

Companies and industries have gone into the digital age cutting corners everywhere with highly sensitive information and brittle systems.

Like can you imagine how police treat "computer people"? shyt probably was a pain in the ass to work there.
