Peak was 94-2000 and they were Just as popular as outkast for people that actually listened to rap.

Around 99 people were actually hyping up prodigy as one of the best emcees in the game (funnily enough no one propped up andre 3000 like that at the time).

They got heavy airplay on the radio in baltimore/dc and heavy airplay nationwide on BET (both mediums were a bigger deal pre youtube). Even when I spent time in Philly (1999/2000) they got play

Nore said one of those Dubai money guys offered NAs 100k, Mobb Deep 50k, and CNN 40k to perform in his living room recently. I'd say you'd have to have been pretty big to get on someone like that's radar

Mobb Deep had a cohesive sound and movement that have them a solid following for years they were definitely top tier.

Used to have the streets and mainstream love.

Prodigy was an elite level rapper up there with all the NY legends of his era. For me personally the fall off began after murda muzik and really post hnic

After HNIC/Murda Muzik they(Prodigy)just fell off almost completely, too worried about Jay instead of sticking to format and feeding the streets

They were my favorite group from 99 til 01

They were pretty big. They had hit records, went platinum once and gold a few times. Shook Ones and Survival of the Fittest were both top 100 songs on billboard. Which is a lot considering they never made any pop singles and had very hardcore content that wasn't at all gimmicky.
