Firstly he's successfully managed to adapt the Transformers into live action and have them not look like silly blocks like they did in the toons. "Pacific Rim" :mjpls:

Secondly he's got them mainstream and has been able to spawn a $2B+ franchise on a series that was designed to simply sell toys :heh:. Transformers could have been sitting on ice like Robotech and Gundam Wing will do for the forseeable future. Could have been a flop like Pacific Rim. Could have been laughed at like Batman and Robin.

The success of the films has seen two animated series spawned as a result.

Gives you exhilarating action scenes and sequences

Bonecrusher:whoo:

The second movie was a product of the writers strike, and was rushed so deserves a pass.

Gives you scenes ripped from G1.

Is about to give you Unicron and The Dinobots in live action.

Expanded and developed plots from G1 e.g Transformers being exiled, Decepticons working with Humans and Transporting Cybertron to Earth.

Got Peter Cullen to do the voice of Optimus.

Knows what the franchise is about and doesn't try to be pretentious.

Gives you entertaining action spectacles.

People like the films, the franchise has gained more fans as a result, sales are up, Transformers are more popular than ever and "mainstream" and no longer a "niche" franchise so what's the problem?.

No doubt the visuals and action sequences were top notch.

Bay is overkill on majority of all talents. All 3 movies are too long, a bunch of comedy filler that is grinded to the bone. He doesn't know when stop with shyt that doesn't advance the movie. The focus on the transformers is forgotten sometimes because he's too busy filming a rock video with labeouf and Megan fox and all the other pretty cinematography. the films if trimmed down and purged of the nonsense, would be far better then what they turned out to be.

I liked part 1. The other two are meh.

Have to agree with @Domingo Halliburton , the Rock is pretty legit.

Great mixture of action, drama and Sean Connery. Not to mention during the chase scene, Cage crashes a expensive Ferrari, and some yuppie told him in front of his face. So what does Cage do, he steals the dude's bike :heh::dead::mj:

Those cartoons are hard to watch. My freshman year in college, everyone in my dorm watched the first season on dvd on some marathon shyt and it was a tough tough sit. I feel like people who lash out at Bay about Transformers are really blind to what those cartoons really were: Toy commercials. He's actually elevated the source material. Of course it isn't perfect and he puts his typical juvenile and questionable stuff in it, along with the 'cism in revenge of the fallen but overall:manny:

He is overkill, but they are killer robots!! That's a multi billion dollar franchise. He has done wonders with the films.

-Too much focus on humans and especially humans that nobody cares about (Shia's parents, etc.)
-A lot of the Transformers look the same
-Some action sequences it's difficult to tell what's even going on
-Corny jokes
-Racist robots
-weak plots that were written on a napkin.

It's not all bad.. there's some good stuff within the three films but if you eliminate most of these problems I think we're looking at a better series. I'm not even saying the films have to be super 'serious' in tone or anything like that. There can be some comedy, but not Bay's kind of humor..
