I understand Hip Hop is a form of "black art" or expression...I understand Hip Hop is an aspect of black culture...

Hip Hop is art, and it's an art form used by various black sub-cultures i.e. trappers, drillers, black hipsters and etc

But culture is BIGGER than just art...

I made the thread with good intentions, not rouse any NEGATIVITY...I am on the outside and looking in, so of course I would have a DIFFERENT perspective...

I don't want to think of hip hop as Black Culture, because the imagery and message presented is very NEGATIVE, and I don't understand why any black person would want to claim that as their "culture"...

It makes sense to me if Hip Hop is and art form (way of expression), rather than a culture, because a culture implies that people who identify with that said culture, actually live it...

Are you selling drugs, bussing your guns, sexing random strippers and etc...? Is that the code you live by...?

But my mission is to get people to admit that hip hop (in itself) is NOT black culture...It is black art...

Vast majority of (black) people want to drive expensive cars, vast majority of majority black communities have been affected by crack and other crime related (or not) to it, they might not have strippers but they have some type of lover, not rocking Gucci or other high end fashion but most listeners are somewhat interested in fashion.

All rappers are different.

And I get that, there are various black sub-cultures that use hip hop as an ART FORM to express their cultural beliefs...But that doesn't make hip hop a culture...

It's like painting, you can't say painting is a culture...It's an art..

And people from different cultures use painting to express different ideas...
