You're talking about being a registered member. Not a voter. Those are 2 different things. If you want to go to bat for a candidate you like, and a candidate that you think can win. For most of us, you have to be a member of the party first. Now using logic, you think there is a remote possibility that person would be Republican?

I'm answering your question. For me, politics isn't a zero sum game. That' why I'm a registered Democrat. I'm not a cheerleader fr the party, but I know that in a FPTP democracy, I have to play the game for my own interests.

You can join whatever party you want. Just make sure you demand things of substance specific for your group. Like others. Democrats and republicans are equally hateful towards you. So it dont really matter.
