Serious question. Even tho ATL isnt runnning shyt like they used to, they're still relevant. I mean you can say LA is more relevant again, but for the longest(literally 10 years atleast) it wasnt at al.

How come LA fell off when their peak was arguably greater than ATLs, while ATL managed to never completely fall off while being on top.

When the west started to recover and gain some traction, nobody wanted to f*ck with Death Row because of Suge, Pac got killed, Dre was taking decades off between albums, Snoop ran to P for protection and Westside Connection fell out.

West Coast and Southern music has persevered through a lot more than any other regions.

Because the West Coast artist were pushing the F*ck The Police line hard along with the gangsta sh*t and the riots showed them a glimpse of how bad sh*t could get. They felt the music inspired and promoted civil disobedience, that's dangerous. That's why they don't like Farrakhan but play him at arms reach because of his influence.

Morality police where targeting Luke and 2 Live Crew because they felt like they were peddling smut, pretty much the same reasons why they went after Larry Flynt.
