Rick didn't bring out Teena Marie?
He produced her first album, but she was going to come out anyway because she had been signed to Motown for a minute. Rick was walking through the halls of the studio one day and heard her singing. He was supposed to be working with Diana Ross, but he wanted to work with Teena. The rest is history.

His legal problems after the hits lead to his dismissal from most people's minds. Kinda hard to be a fan of a crackhead. Also, he was a disco act and after disco died, most of the leading artists of the genre pretty much disappeared.

Truth be told though, Rick made good music up until he passed. He was going to come back out after the renewed fame due to Dave Chappelle, but he died too soon. Listen to these tracks from '97 and tell me they aren't dope as hell.
