Let me put it like this....Here is the list of NY stars on a national level from the last 5 years: Jay, Nicki, Asap, French, Nas. 3 of those are new. Thats less than 1 a year, and I wouldn't even count Nicki really as she's been around for a while. ATL is putting out 2-3 new stars a year. Plus ATL has a lot of brehs who are perpetually relevant. TI, Wayne, shyt even Jeezy, Gucci. Outkast still has a huge following. Cee Lo had a resurgent wave. Not to mention Future, etc. ATL is the epicenter right now, which I am not knocking, just acknowledging.

And Jay's sound isn't copying another region, but it's definitely not reflective of NYC. He was rapping like 2 Chainz on his last album like everyone else. Pretty sure he didn't have any NY features either :comeon:

And I didnt say anything about AB or JB being internet sensations, but since u wanna play that game, the only two places they are really relevant are NYC and the internet. Again no knocks just calling a spade a spade. Joey Badazz following is nowhere near that of someone even like Migos let alone a legitimate ATL act.

NYC's talent pool is weak as fukk and IMO reflective of the passing of the torch to ATL and the dying culture of the city.

My dude, you naming dudes from the South that BEEN out for a decade. So I can name dudes that been out for that long also. NY got Jay, Nas, Nicki, Asap, French...that's as many dudes from here that the South has. And then you naming dudes that you know won't be a factor in approximately a year like Future (plus he won't sell and WE ALL KNOW THIS), and a dude that won't sell and doesn't even have huge hit records (Gucci). And then you name Outkast (a group that hasn't made a REAL rap record together in about a decade) and Cee-Lo, who doesn't even do rap music anymore. WHERE are these 2-3 STARS a year ATL is putting out? Name them. Like I said, it's bullshyt propaganda that's heavily perpetuated on the Coli. :russ: at ATL having some rich pool of SUPERSTAR rap prospects.

NY talent pool is as good, or even better in some cases, than A LOT of cities. Nobody can't prove otherwise. What they will do tho is name a few dudes that been in the game for ages (Outkast, Wayne, Gucci...) or dudes that don't got Superstar hits and don't sell (Future, Gucci) or dudes that are one hit wonder, strip club anthem cats.

NY got as much STARS as any other city but there's still cats on the Coli fronting or just naive.

Also, these threads are annoying cause it just shows how many of y'all have an unrealistic vision of this city from hip-hop. At the end of the day...NY is strictly business with people trying to go places, get shyt done, and make money. I work in the financial district now so my attitude when I see all these stupid hipsters doing nothing but f*cking around and taking "deep and meaningful" instagram pictures while I'm trying to get to work is kind of shytty. This is why I f*cking hate hipsters. People are trying to live and work and vice versa...yet their ass is phucking around trying to fufill some unrealistic fantasy of the city they saw in a movie or from a TV show or from hip-hop when really it's not like that en masse. The same people that would get ripped off in Union Square trying to buy a bag of weed cause they saw "KIDS" and were like "New York is SO COOL" coming in from some flyover state in the middle of fukkall nowhere Nebraska love making these threads.

These conversations get boring and tiring...especially from outsiders. The shyt's entertainment at the end of the day.
