How come some YouTube videos get flagged for music and some don't?

I don't understand this about YouTube. I listen to some YouTube channels with copywriters music and they're fine. I know they haven't gone and got permission from all the artists and record labels.

Then some channels, soon as they play one song get a strike for infringement.

Anyone know the deal on this...

That’s what sucks about YouTube breh they kinda demonatize what they feel

It's not the demonatize part, it's where they threaten to shut your page down.

I wonder is it something to do with having that statement included on your page about "educational purposes".

The choice belongs to the copyright owner. They can delete it or monetize it.
If you upload original content you won't have this issue

If you are a major influencer, there is chance you could get permission from the Copyright Holder to publish content, think of Ryan's Toy Review, technically that is infringement with as he means to make a profit off various Disney/Marvel characters and toy manufacturers...HOWEVER, since he is bringing in revenue and traffic to those companies, he gets a pass. The bigger the clout, the more leeway you get...

It also greatly, greatly depends on the type of content you are infringing upon. It can take a bit of time from your warning to go to a strike.

If you are a renegade, the below will happen:

Their content ID system doesn't catch everything, but it catches quite a bit of copyrighted material. Anything Disney/Marvel related will get taken down pretty quickly as they are very aggressive about their content...

However, you upload a copy of Mortal Kombat Annihilation, no one is going to get you immediately lol....but they will get you and probably ban your channel as result...

What's fair use?

Copyrighted songs can be discussed, taught, reported on, etc. So if I take a Drake song andd upload it without any context, I will get a strike. However, if I discuss the chord progression in a Drake song, I can claim fair use as it is not being used for profit, but educational/ethical reasons.

Cash Money could give you a pass for thr use and run ads on the video. You would probably need to set up a patreon for revenue from the video...
