Many big businesses are started by black but eventually get bought out.
Cant blame the breh for selling out (No pun intended) if some white investors comes and offers him way above market value for the business

We own a lot of funeral parlors too. Whites historically don't like dealing with black peoples bodies. So there has always been a market for black owned business like barbers shops and funeral parlors.

Imo if we stopped playing the respectability politics then we could embrace more of our culture and sell it to ourselves like other groups.

Growing up in Philly the small businesses like corner stores were always owned by Koreans in black neighborhoods.

In NYC they're always owned by Yemenese and occasionally a Dominican or Eastern Euro.

How to fix it? That's the hard question. There's governmental business loans for minorities out there but it's not nearly enough. Personally I'm in favor of reparations to start.

but to add to the thread, I gotta take my kids to the dentist this evening, and dude is a 30 something year old black man who owns his own practice

they actually love the dentist office cuz they got TV's in every room while you get your teeth cleaned.

btw, if anyone in chicago wants to go to a black owned dentist, PM me. I have the one I go to, but the one my kids go to is better. I'd rather go to theirs, but I'm a loyal client to my OG black dentist.

Correction: We do actually own many things. There's many black owned directories out there and even a thread in Higher Learning I believe.

Getting out people to shop and buy from those stores and services is another thing
