How come Xbox Live haven't matched Planetside 2's features?

2000 players online on one map. Can Xbox 1 even handle that with the cloud?

Xbox Live seems to have been bested by older titles such as MAG on PS3 which featured 256 players online at the same time.

My employees tell me Xbox Live is competition, I think it's inferior.
