Planting or just good PR?

Any up and coming rapper who gets any kind of industry attention is a plant now :beli:

I would hardly call this "blowing up" most people still have no idea who he is.
He got buzz by being on Childish Gambino's Royalty and touring with dude. He's not even signed, so he's not a plant at all.

Again, like I said, I think Chance the Rapper is the greatest rapper since Tupac Shakur, so I'm not hating. I think his Save Money clique is the realest since JUNIOR Mafia.

But the fact is that dude is part of the machine. You should respect that.

No clue, but dude is hot garbage. I don't see the appeal, he doesn't do the singy rap better than Cudi, his voice is annoying, and his content just ain't my cup of tea. I really think nikkas who like this dude are trying too hard.

Dude is Spin Magazine's "Rapper of the Year" and rap fans haven't heard of dude.

That's some damn good PR.

It's not surprising that a music magazine would want to hop on to the "next big thing" to be able to say they called it or where up on it first. However, what's more likely is that management company he's working for paid for the spot to generate more publicity for him. Sounds about right for today's industry. Yea it's nice to be able to say your buzz was built strictly off of the music only, but with so many opportunities to generate even more attention and get your name out there why not take advantage?

Chance/his management have successfully built up a nice little buzz for him. Isn't that what you're supposed to do as a new artist? Now if you've got a buzz going you're a plant.

You say you don't like this guy on Twitter, and cats act like you said he was on Jay-z's levee. Dude is average with an annoying voice and terrible ad libs.

when it comes to that "plant" shyt, internet dudes are quick to believe anything. seriously. so fukkin gullible. I think people are just thirsty to rip apart someones come up.

CASE IN POINT, I was a Chance the Rapper fan for a while (before he "blew" up) so I had made threads about dude on the hamster, boxden, etc. Nobody seemed to fukk with the threads tho, because of course, you nikkas like to talk about the same shyt every day instead. Once he caught a buzz, I decided to troll the boxden nerds and up one of my old threads about him and claim that I was paid to make that thread (since it was the only Chance the Rapper thread the site had ever had before then)... claimed he was an industry plant and that I was exposing some super secretive shyt. nikkas not only fell for it but I STILL get PM's this day begging me to come back and expose more information.

:wow:

here's the thread http://slumz.boxden.com/f87/do-any-you-boxden-goonies-like-chicago-spitter-chance-rapper-1812357/

nikka got 34 comments acting like that thread is legendary :heh:

Chance is trash and does one of the worst Lil Wayne impersonations I've ever heard. At least TJ had a certified hit and the makings of a star (trademark look, catchphrase, etc.) whether we want to admit it or not. Chance is a awkward goofy lookin cornball that doesn't have no songs that anybody (who isn't a fellow cornball) knows.
