Current: Senior year of high school internship + college degree allowed me to get in.
The one I start in two weeks: Certs ..no lie, my lack of experience was killing me at first but eventually this company reached out since they like my resume and they hired me. I did all that through self study.

I'm working freelance now, so I get my jobs from networking with people, on and offline. Business is kinda slow this season, so I'm going to start cold calling/emailing other businesses.

The job I had before, I got from posting my resume on Career Builder. A staffing agency called me 5 minutes later, and I was at that job for 10 years. I got the job because I had It experience. They passed over someone with a degree, for me.

basically, I lied and said I had experience with maintenance work with my former job, and when push came to shove, I got paired up with the old head who likes to talk and does shyt for you, so i purposely would fukk up a light fixtures so he could do it the correct way, and I would pay close attention to how he would do it so when I would be solo I could knock it out.

stuff like plumbing, unclogging toilets/sinks etc isn't that complicated, just a lil trial and error and time, jobs like that you can fukk around and run out the clock.

Got my degree in something i didnt want. Heard nothing back from apps post college.

I got my job by starting as an intern and met his thru reddit. Super weird, not a heavy reddit user (most black folk aren't). But you can make easy connections by finding a subreddit that has to di with your field, and then searching it for the city you want to work.

I ran across a dude saying he worked in the city I wanted. He told me fly out and catch a drink with him at the bar by the job. Easy money. 5 months as an intern, now full-time for a yeat

Director of operations and owner of a private company came to my old job to purchase something and they liked my personality/customer service. Offered me life changing money off of that. :wow: of course I had to work hard once I got there but I moved up to the second highest position in six months.
