Sacramento Kings because I was born/raised in Sacto mostly . Even during the Mitch Richmond/Wayman Tisdale/Lionel Simmons days when the team was bad, them boys played hard. When they became real good during the Webber/Divac/Bibby days , it felt sweeter being a longtime fan before of your squad and for them to finally take off. I was a Spurs fan for years also during the 90s because I was a huge David Robinson fan growing up. Not so much now.

San Jose Sharks because they are Nor-Cal's hockey team. I was a LA Kings fan before the NHL gave SJ an expansion team in '91 but I was also an Avalanche fan in the 90s because Joe Sakic was my favorite hockey player.

49ers fan because I grew up during the 80s and I loved how they played the game with that West Coast offense :lawd: My pops and everyone on my dad's side of the fam were Raider fans and my mom was a Cowboys/Saints fan. So I had to toot my own horn.

Oakland A's because they were the first pro sports team I became a fan of in ANY SPORT. That run they had in the late 80s-early 90s was magical. Their fanbase at that time with the bash brothers , Henderson/Dave Stewart, Eck was legendary at that time too. Bigger than the Yankees during the 90s .

Penn State Football (let me finish :whoa:) since the 1987 Fiesta Bowl vs The U "Fatigue Game" I love their plain color scheme mostly because I'm an Air Force Brat and the Navy blue/white reminded me of those military colors. That '94 team got robbed of a national championship more than my Kings in 2002 but its w/e :yeshrug: I also like LSU because I was on my way to transfer there after touring the campus ten years ago while I was in the South seeing relatives. Then Katrina happened :damn:

The way I chose my teams is a slight mix of geography with more emphasis on player.

NFL- Since I live in the Bahamas we got all of the Dolphins games televised. Growing up in the 80's when Marino was a great player, not to mention the dolphins would come over for the spring and hold football camps.

NBA-Houston Rockets. I just was a huge fan of Hakeem.

MLB-Atlanta Braves. I just was a fan of those squads, Smotlz, Glavine, Maddux, Justice, Gant, Deion Pendleton etc

NHL- fukk hockey

NCAA Football- Miami Hurricanes. Again geography and it was the 80's. The canes were swagged out x10000000000000000000000000000

NCAA Basketball- Tar Heels. Just because, I dunno I just liked them.....history, legacy, the unis, jordan,........

Where I was born and raised
Yeah, basically. I was just barely old enough to remember the Colts leaving, so I pretty much messed with the burgundy and gold 'til the Ravens arrived...I never got caught up in that whole Bmore-DC "rivalry" or w/e you wanna call it. I mess w/the Nats, Wiz, and Caps almost as much as I do the Ravens and O's.

Also, the one school I have no affiliation with that I've always repped was, oddly enough, Navy. Came from their run to the Great Eight with the Admiral, and then when I learned they were in Annapolis, it was definitely on. I was still kinda young and didn't know much about them besides that...thought they were some blue blood basketball power at first.:pachaha: Plus, I used to work right down the street from the Academy and had a few conferences/workshops there, so I still have love for 'em.

WVU: watched em roll over uga in the sugar bowl, thought rich rod offense was dope, and this was the first college football game i was interested in (didnt start messing with football till i was in like 8th grade)

Braves: pops used to take me to the games.

Nfl/Nba: i root for players... Probably because i grew up in the jordan era :yeshrug:

Love
Weather it be a favourite player, best team at the time ,where you were born/grew up ,da bandwagon ,parents etc...

lemme know
Where i lived when i started following the league, i guess. I went to High School and college in Miami so thats how i became a Heat and Dolphis fan.

I still had players I liked and followed at the time (Scottie Pippen, Chris Webber, David Robinson, Derrick Coleman) but the Heat and Dolphins were more accessible to me since thy were the hometown team :manny:
I think i start to hate certain teams as i meet their obnoxious fans tho. Thus why I hate the Jets and Knicks so much. Falcons fans are cool but i still dont like their squad. I hate UGA and ALabama. Not because i care at all about college football/sports but because i have to deal with their obknoxious fans all the time living in Atlanta.

Bama ass DC
Saints-raised a saints fan cause of my pops. I miss going to the games with him :sadbron:
Lakers- needed a team after Jordan retired, hopped on the bandwagon in 99 stuck with em :manny:
Alabama-was a Miami fan cause of the great Ed Reed but had to kinda ditch them for Bama when I went there
Pirates-ole boy in the mlb random thoughts thread. Said they were an upcoming team with a black star player so I'm hopping on the bandwagon
Mighty Ducks- always fukked with the movies so it's natural to like them

Cowboys
my Pop's didn't get into the NFL 'til he was in his teenage years (the 70's), and the Cowboys were America's Team so he hopped on that bandwagon. raised me to bleed silver and blue. and growing up in the 90's it was easy to root for troy/emmitt/irving:banderas:
Twins
grew up in MPLS. Soo many classic memories watching the Twins through the 90's-00's.
From Tom Kelly to Gardy :myman: Kirby :to: When Johan and Torii left :to:
Twins been hard to watch the past couple years :snoop:
Wild
Minnesota calls themselves the "state of hockey" and we aint had no team since Dallas jacked our North Star's and won a cup and shyt :pacspit:. Than we got blessed with the Wild. Gaborik leading us to the WCF. Parise and Sutter signing here for life :blessed: big things on the way
T-Wolves
KG/Marbury made them easy to like as a youngin'. made the playoffs like every year but was always getting knocked out in the 1st round. Timmy Duncan owned our asses, Dirk went off against us, won 50 games and got the Kobe/Shaq Lakers first round :sadcam: than KG wins MVP, we finally break out of the first round vs Denver, go on to beat Sac in 7 to meet the Lakers in the West Finals :blessed: where we eventually lost :to:
memories :obama:

Green Party
Mets - Grew up in Queens by SJU but parents weren't into sports. My grandparents and youngest uncle lived in Jackson heights and my uncle put me on to the Mets. Hitting up Shea since knee high :blessed: :pacspit:

Giants - I was just getting into football when the Gmen won the '91 Superbowl

NYR - Got into them in highschool thru some friends. Was never into hockey before that.

Knicks - Always had a love hate relationship with them. Honestly never really liked Ewing, more a Mason, Oakley fan but in Junior High, how couldn't you be mesmerized and root for MJ. Now I'm a true Knick fan but that front office though :snoop: from Dave Checketts, to Zeke, to now :sadcam:
