It's all power relations. You need to maintain control, so you'll distort everything until you feel warranted enough to commit oppression. Like how people say troops are "defending our country." but how are you defending our country when you're trying to take over somebody else's

People are faced with existence without meaning, they latch onto any last bastions of authority. Trump is the last dying grasp for power by whites, that's why even women voted for him. They feel meaningless. It doesn't help that republicans have been taking money out of education so people remain unenlightened, so now the average person is probably a white supremacist and it takes someone with intelligence who can see through the layers of bullshyt.

Corporations got shook in the 60s, so starting in the 70s they started lobbying and making moves to get more money into politics, and once democracy was compromised by buying votes, we went downhill fast.
