I mean records don't sell like they used to.

All the deals seem to be like 360 deals.

The economy in general isn't as good as it was decades ago.

I always hear people talk about how labels aren't spending money like they used to.

They don't have a bunch of old material to eat off of.

Streaming services seem to pay very little.

Ringtones ain't popping like in the Lil Flip era.

YouTube monetization seems to be harder as the years go buy.

I feel like 50 had it right when he said that there will never be another artist big like he was...and he said that like a decade ago.

Around that same time Busta was saying with the exception of Soulja Boy there were no millionaires in hip hop that were particularly young.

Everyone from Whoo Kid to Cam to...hell MTV and BET did all kinds shows and shyt talking about how much rappers are broke.

Show money is good, streaming money is alright if you contract is tight (see universal went from 4.5 billion to 7 billion in the past 10 years or so) and obviously again show money. Tyler sold out MSG like nothing, 15 years ago Jay-z celebrated like he won the league for selling out the garden in that same speed.

These dudes are buying cars and houses a lot of rappers from the early 90s were dreaming about. I think people are exaggerating the lack of money.

It's the same way musicians been making money since time!

Sell tickets, fukking duhhhhh. :mjlol:

Consistent sold out shows and touring, soft merch and corporate events are what's getting rappers paid right now.

To a lesser degree, some might make a lil change on some syncs/licensing.

Albums and music, you might break even if you're lucky.

Sometimes I wonder how many people on this board actually work in the biz.
