I think the concept was great, but could've been executed better. I might give it a 7/10.
How ya'll feel about it?

It should have been released this year..its needed now more than ever.

Amen to that! Spike Lee is so ahead of his time in terms of social commentary. But because he's a black guy with a chip on his shoulder (and I feel like it's for good reason) he doesn't get the resources, budgets, and production time he needs to really make his films shine.

I've seen him speak a few times and at one point he started speaking about Inside Man, and he said how it made so much profit and was proof that he could handle mainstream stuff if he chose to, but because of his views and his habit of speaking his mind, people don't want to invest in him even when it's practically guaranteed profit.

That 'Tommy Hilnygga' commercial in itself is proof that the guy knows exactly what he's talking about. And that he's not only critical of whites, but blacks as well. And NO ONE EVER WANTS TO ADMIT THAT. How many times has Spike said, 'black people, we have to do better!' But everyone. EVERYONE. ignores that part. Makes me very angry.

I wouldn't even say he has a chip on his shoulder. He's in tune with reality, and how it impacts our people and he makes honest commentary about it.

I only say he has a chip on his shoulder because he could say the same things without putting so much emotion into it. Like when he went after Clint Eastwood about the lack of black soldiers in his movies, he could have said, 'i think we need to draw attention to the war films that don't accurately reflect all of the citizens that helped protect our country in the past.'

Instead, it came off that he was only interested in furthering the representation of blacks, which looks self serving and angry. But if you approach if from a factual perspective, and not an emotional one...critics can't come back and say, 'Welp, there's Spike again whining about blacks in movies!' Instead, they would have been forced to look at it from a historical perspective, and he would have had them easy. His delivery needs work, but if he changed it, he wouldn't be Spike. I still got nothing but love for him.

Thats my movie right there...very underrated but that montage at the end :wow:definitely makes you angry. When I first saw it I couldn't believe how blacks were portrayed in the media and how white people could be this cruel and ignorant....sad stuff right here brehs

At a Q&A I asked Spike why it seemed like we can't get films with blacks that don't make us look stupid, and he flatly said, 'a studio would rather make Soul Plane 17 before they gave money to make a real drama with blacks that featured real characters and not just stereotypes.'

I was standing in front of a line of about 50 people and I almost wanted to cry.
