Learning styles are not decided by gender or race. It's all about you as an individual. Some people are auditory learners, some are visual learners, and etc. I don't like how they try to make it seem like blacks need special attention in order to learn. We don't need Ebonics or this foolish ass book. Our brains work just as well as others.

The problem is not learning styles because black boys start of strong and get good grades up to about 8/9/10. We're doing just as well as other races up to then. We start doing poorly after then.
You just got to ask yourselves what happens to them at that age that fukked them up? It sure as hell is not teaching stye that's the overriding problem.

Unfortunately he injected race into it, and in a very corny way as well.

What hasn't helped boys is the set up of the classroom and a very paranoid climate that covers kids in bubble rap. Boys need to be rambunctious and engage in competitive activities (not saying girls don't) - and although video gaming has taken over as the primary outlet to fulfill this need in some cases, boys really need a good balance in school between academics and physical activity. If you have a classroom of over 25 students, all sitting still for a period of time, a teacher won't always be able to pick up on the nuances of every child and their attention levels, and because of the particular needs of boys, they are likely to fall behind.

The author also needed to talk about environment, toxins, diet and a bunch of other factors instead of assuming that black boys can't learn in a particular way. His approach to this was really lazy, and caters to eugenic type arguments smh

I remember hearing similar theories in the early 2000's from well meaning, progressive even radical Blacks. I didn't buy it then, and I don't buy it now.

The problem is our education system is some shyt. Girls fare slightly better due to socialization but boys are PERCEIVED to give more behavior problems because it's fukking torture to sit still and listen to a blowhard ramble for hours and hours without some Zen like meditation or extreme social pressure (I.e. Your family is counting on you to get good grades to help them outta poverty!)

Once we're honest about that and the soul sucking nature of today's educational system that has none of the features or privileges we enjoyed in school (did u know my school didn't take any field trips last year? Not one! Budget cuts...) then we can talk about blk children as learners.

Did u know blk children read at greater rates than other races of children until they hit 3rd grade when they become 1-2 years behind every year afterwards?

I think the spirit crushing educational system and children's awareness of cultural and sub-cultural expectations kick in to create what looks like learning problems in young blk children particularly blk males, but is really just toxic mentalities designed to create blk boys that live up to or down to stereotypes of them.

Always remember society WANTS blk boys who drop out, deal drugs for fast money, disrespect women, worship whites, don't work and are violent because these guys fit popular racist narratives.

And when they can't find enuff blk men to fit these lies, they'll manufacture them through social conditioning.

Think about how many hip hop artists are educated but most are paid to act and rap about anything but...social conditioning pumped through ur headphones...

And you ain eem know it!
