I have this fear of failure that has held me back on SEVERAL opportunities in life. I have had A LOT of people that have wanted to work with me on many different things but I always get this fear of not being as good as I want to be that keep me from capitalizing on these different opportunities. No one really knows about this because I don't speak about it but with the new year I really want to put this behind me. Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this and if so how did you overcome?

man sooner or later, you gotta do it; the one thing that helped me was playing a shytload of sports when I was a kid..it taught me both success (Football and Baseball) and failure (my basketball team was god fukking awful, especially in AAU), so my mind was ready for it. You sound like you need to try small things first so you can adjust to possible failure before you jump to major things because failure happens to everyone no matter what

I personally feel like you have to fail in order to fully conquer the sense of dread the word brings. Once you fail, you stop being afraid to. You can never be truly successful if you're unwilling to take the gamble that you may fail to succeed.

Edit:
By failing :yeshrug:

George A. Custer (1839-1876)

If you're speaking on career changes, education or business ventures, I think it's good to have some money in the bank. At least 3-6 months or more that way you can still sustain yourself financially in the midst of trying.

By failing and realizing that your life will go on.
Also by not being concerned about what others think. Even if our goal or whatever we are striving for is something personal I think subconsciously we don't want to be embarrassed by our family or peers.
You can also try again
