In and out of the hospital. Up and down. How do you handle it?
In and out of the hospital. Up and down. How do you handle it?How do you accept basically having the parental role? I'm so used to her being in charge, and on top of everything. Unfortunately, she can't be that person anymore.I just remember how they took care of me. Can get a bit frustrating, like when they took care of me. But I keep going...like when they took care of me. Pops died, moms is sick so I baby her. She deserves it.
Honestly, my mindset is in my first response. Once I got past what I felt and dealt with what it is, it became easier. It hurts a lot at times, but I don’t let her see it. I keep her jovial and don’t let her feel sorry for herself too much. I know it hurts her to not be able to do for herself like she used to, but she takes solace in me taking care of her over my siblings. I do everything to make her comfortable. How do you accept basically having the parental role? I'm so used to her being in charge, and on top of everything. to ya'll taking care of mom and dad instead of dumping them into a facilityMe too. 3 different cancers, and a heart attack. God bless my mommy.I'm currently going through that with my mom who survived breast cancer (2010) & had an ischemic stroke in 2016.
It can be incredibly hard, physically and mentally, but you'll do it because you love them. They hate getting help. Wiping my mom's ass and changing her diapers almost felt disrespectful the first time. She suffered from Parkinson's, and had mobility issues. Toward the end, I had to carry her around when her wheelchair couldn't make it. I was also lucky my family had enough money to afford in home care in addition to my help.
You’re a good sun.it can be frustrating more so for others cause some older folks deny or dont want help or even an assistant around the house when clearly they need someone when your out to work or if you live far away .I know someone who work and is retire but refuses to seek medical treatment for her issues and it only got worse for her and now she is more sick.some folks the older they get the more they get stuck in their ways unfortunately.Unfortunately you have to step up, speaking for experience. Be glad your there to take care of them. It’s not easy
