How do you guys go about it? Do you have a HIGH degree/experience

and does the company pay for relocation and so forth?

And do you use your address where you're at or you use another address from a person in the area?

I did it almost three years ago now

A degree does help, i have a B.A in social work

Use your current address, when you get a interview be polite and ask for either a phone and or skype interview, you would be surprised at how many do this now days

Some companies will even fly you for a day to do a interview

When they contact they will ask about you being located in stated XYZ, just tell them that you have no problem relocating, make sure you have a time line in your head for moving, what i mean is how long after u get offered a job can you be in the new state , in my case i asked for two weeks .

It's ok to take your address off your resume. You can always get a google voice number with an area code in the city you're looking for and use that. I think it's ok to put the address to your linked in profile in place of an address, but that's going to vary from job to job. Some companies may be more conservative.

The main thing you want to have in place is money. Money to travel and lodge in the event of an in person interview. You also want to research the market rent for the area and have 3-6 months of that amount saved before you do anything. If the housing market is competitive in the city you're targeting, it would be good to include money for a hotel until you can settle on an apartment. Keep that separate from the rent money.

It's always great to move to a new city but don't go broke and hoping good shyt happens. Just take a little bit of time to plan and save, then all you have to do is pick where to go.

Yep I made this thread ten minutes ago but I decided it may be better to kill myself, my situation may be beyond help.

Thanks for the advice anyways, doesn't apply to me.

Nobody Gonna Pay For You To Relocate Unless It's The Job You Already Work For, And Usually If They're The Ones Wanting You To Move

You may have to move there w/o a job, apply and hope for the best. Unless you have a special skills or already employed with the organization, most companies will not take out of market candidates seriously. I'm in this situation right now and i'm now getting interviews for jobs that I would not get if I was still back in Ohio. Remember, change comes for those who have no fear :manny:.
