I feel weird about this....Anyways I have a family member that no matter the occasion always seems to purchase me counterfeit material items for my birthday and/or christmas. I've pretty much reached the point where I want to tell them to stop buying me things but I don't want to be offensive.

With gifts I'm normally appreciative of them as it's the thought that counts but there's just some things I won't wear. Anyways this person bought me perhaps the most obvious pair of fake Jordan 4's I've ever seen. (I have a pair of 4s so it was immediately apparent) This person has also bought me a pair of fake nike boots (which I promptly sold on eBay) but these I can't sell just based on how absurd looking the box is and how bad these variants look. If they weren't so bad I would probably hoop in them but I'm afraid they'll explode. lol
Maybe I'll give them to the homeless.

Anyone ever experience this?

Yeah it's my father, we don't really have a relationship to be honest. Him and my mother got divorced when I was a kid and the extent of our relationship has been him giving me Christmas & birthday gifts, he hasn't really taken the time to build a relationship with me.......when I was a kid he would just ask me what I want, now he'll buy me something 4 sizes too big or something counterfeit and I'm like :patrice:.

I feel bad about it because you should be appreciative of all gifts but it's pretty ridiculous, especially with me being an adult and all....

Maybe they are just trying to do something nice for you and don't have the money :yeshrug: I came in here expecting a thread about re-gifting/BS gifts but if they are trying to buy you high end items (even though they are knockoffs) maybe just let them cook and not wear them/donate them. If you can buy your own Js then do that...

Lots of variables... Mom never bought me Js but didn't even have her own car :mjcry: If I got some knockoffs from her I woulda given her with a good hug and just never wore em.

Yeah I appreciate it. I'm definitely not trying to be ungrateful......Just was trying to figure out if there was a tactful way of telling my pops that he doesn't have to buy me any more gifts. I feel pretty bad that I'm selling or giving away everything he gives me.

Tell ya pops if he gon try to buy ya love he gotta at least cop the real Jordans:mjlol:...Time for you to be a man now and keep it real mane, you and your pops should have a good enough relationship you can tell him you don't want fake gifts at this point....You dont gotta tell em as soon as you open it,you can even make a joke out of it if you dont feel comfortable being direct....Tell him how nikkas clowned you for them fake ass Jordans at the gym. If he cant afford the real thing tell him he dont gotta buy the fake cuz it aint impressing you so far:comeon:...He need to buy something he can afford instead of tryna fool somebody....He either think he fooling you,or somebodys fooling him,or he getting them shyts for free somewhere.

2 outta 3 is disrespectful to you,and the other is disrespectful to him....dont see any good reason not to say something.

You scared you gon lose ya pops over some Jordans?yalls fake azz relationship is a bigger problem then them shoes:why:

Does he know they are counterfeit though? I am going to assume your dad is an older person, and maybe he spots a good deal on ebay or some shyt, without realizing the product is a fake.

Also you have to wonder why he is buying you fake stuff? Maybe you wear the best stuff, and he feels like only designer stuff will do. You should ask him to buy you a tie or a food item, something safe that he can afford at various prices.

:dead: Yo this thread has fukking killed me!

Like others said just give them away to a thrift shop or Salvation Army or something. After that just have a convo with him and ask him where he gets this stuff from. Tell him it's fake and if he knows it's fake just say thanks and K.I.M. :laff:

nah, it's not that.....he buys my mom pretty bad gifts as well and she's the furthest thing from materialistic. He bought her some rusted earrings and counterfeit bags. He's a bit more street than than we are too, tho I wouldn't consider him hood. More than likely just buys off a random stand. He's probably much more materialistic than me and my mom.....has a bmw and a benz....me and my mom drive regular cars.

Like I said tho, we don't have a relationship at all more so because he just never took the time (or maybe he doesn't know how). He just randomly comes by and brings gifts on christmas/bdays....so I'd never tell him what to buy. I just say thank you and accept it.
