Watch a quarterbacks eyes. If looks down the field for one receiver, then immediately comes back for the check down.

Also have noticed 1 read QBs tend to be very flat footed in the pocket.

is there a way to observe this
You know how quarterbacks heads move and they bop around in the pocket after they drop back?

Single read qbs don't do that. They step back, look at their target, throw it to them, or run or check down to the RB or te, or throw it away because they're not open.

yup, Drop back, Look at wide Receiver, check TE/RB, Force it into double coverage to the wide Receiver, Get intercepted, wash and repeat....

Watch his head... does it stay in one direction...

For example Brandon Weeden is a 1 read qb...and you can tell just by watching his head...i could even see it from the stands yesterday...

He stares in one direction and just waits, waits, waits...and after that internal clock goes off and if the guy is not open...boom...he checks it down...
