Financially and mentally better now

Music was better back then

:yeshrug:

Nah. U think that cuz of the more years Hip-hop been around or what? Cuz that isnt true IMO, especially financially. The whole entertainment business definitely have it harder economically. Mentally? Thats depends on what you mean and varies in opinion.

What factors are you using to compare the periods?

Quality wise, Its prolly aound the same. Off course nikkaz looking back with rose-tinted glasses will say "back in my day, music had more meaning" or someshyt like that, but seeing it objectively, you can't really say one is better than the other, especially considering that today we have access to more music and artists than ever before.

2010 began a new era after a lot of the major blogs/track sites died down

sooooooo many new artists from all different regional backgrounds began to use the Internet to out out their music

soooooo many culturally important sounds and figures were birthed

shyt was incredible as a fan of the music and cultural. Every fukkin day new stuff came out that turned hip hop on its head over and over and over. absolutely incredible music

more recently fans have become nearly intolerable with a lot of this stuff. meme culture is ruining hip hop AND trap

the cultural boom due to the Internet is done

To me, this era started out GREAT but fell off after 2011.

Compare the albums

2000s had Get Rich or Die Tryin, College Dropout, The Documentary, MMLP, Late Registration, Be, Stankonia, Blueprint, Black Album, Eminem Show, Stillmatic, Lost Tapes, Carter 2, Country Grammar, Luda's albums, and that's just off top. I'm probably missing a bunch.

We are not getting close to that amount of great albums
